Beneath the Stars – O Dan Y Sêr is a spacious 50m² geodesic dome created for two, set in its own private wildflower orchard with open views across the peaceful Mid Wales countryside.
This is a place to slow down properly. Wake beneath the dome’s stargazing window, make coffee in your own kitchen and enjoy breakfast overlooking the orchard. Spend the day walking in the Cambrian Mountains, exploring the coast or discovering the market towns and quiet corners of Mid Wales. In the evening, light the wood-fired hot tub, cook outside and listen for the owls as the sky grows dark.
Inside the dome
The open-plan interior feels wonderfully spacious, with a king-size bed positioned beneath the stargazing window. There is a comfortable seating area with a wood burner, Smart TV and Wi-Fi, together with an equipped kitchen and dining space for relaxed meals.
The private en-suite shower room means that everything you need is contained within the dome. You can settle in, close the door and enjoy the feeling of having your own little part of the valley.
Your private outdoor space
Outside, the deck and orchard are yours alone. The private wood-fired hot tub is a lovely place to unwind after a day’s walking or simply spend an unhurried afternoon together.
There is outdoor seating for alfresco meals, along with a BBQ and pizza oven. On clear nights, the rural setting and Bortle Class 3 skies can offer beautiful views of the stars. You may also hear the owls calling across the valley while you sit in the hot tub.
A quiet base for exploring Mid Wales
You can walk directly from Fronlwyd into the surrounding countryside or travel further into the Cambrian Mountains, towards southern Eryri, or out to the beaches and coastal towns of Cardigan Bay.
Our local guide is sent to guests before their stay and includes our own recommendations for mountain walks, coastal days, independent cafés, wildlife reserves and slower days close to Fronlwyd.

Please note that some satnav systems may direct you to a neighbouring farm. Use the postcode SY19 7AS to reach Bontdolgadfan, then follow the directions below.
If your satnav directs you onto a driveway that begins in the centre of the village and runs alongside open fields for about half a mile, you are on the wrong lane. Please turn back, as this leads to a neighbouring farm.
From the bridge in the centre of Bontdolgadfan, head east up the hill. After approximately 200 yards, turn left onto the no-through road. Continue for about 100 yards, then turn left onto a small side road just before the static caravan. You should see our Fronlwyd sign.
Follow the road into the parking area. Please park in the main parking area on the left, beside the EV charger. As you enter the yard, the dome will be on your right behind the trees. The gravel path begins beside the old farming implement.

Welcome to Fronlwyd Escapes.
We’re Adam and Vicky, and we’ve been welcoming guests to our little corner of Mid Wales for over 11 years. What started as the restoration of our 400-year-old Welsh longhouse has grown into a place where families, couples and friends can slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy the peace of the Cambrian Mountains.
We live here with our two children, our dogs and Barry the friendly pig, so we’re always nearby if you need anything, while still giving you complete privacy to enjoy your stay.
We love sharing our favourite walks, hidden beauty spots and local recommendations, and we’re always happy to help make your visit special. Whether you’re celebrating with family in the Longhouse or escaping for a romantic break in our luxury dome, we hope you’ll leave with wonderful memories and a desire to return.
We look forward to welcoming you to Fronlwyd.
